You can do it but, in my opinion, it's something of a kluge. `xfmail'
does this but I find it somewhat confusing.

I've written a utility which does this. Drop me email and I'll send
it to you -- it's a bit rough around the edges since it's extracted
from a larger application but it should be a good start.

I'm not sure I understand the requirement for hard coding -- the
application can certainly set a file mask but the user can change it.
