XForms: What do I do next?

# To subscribers of the xforms list from Donovan A Richie <richie.3@osu.edu> :

First of all, I am new to Linux, so forgive me if I say things that
don't make complete sense to you seasoned xforms developers.

In order to use a word processor (LyX) on my RedHat 5.2 personal
computer, I had to download xforms. I downloaded the binary
bxforms-glibc.tgz, gunzipped it, and un-tarred it, then put it in
/usr/X11R6/lib (made sense to me to put it there!) Now what do I do to
make the libraries accessible to this ./configure program I have to run
as the first step in installing LyX? I can't connect to www.lyx.org,
where I thought I would find some guidance, so I'm hoping this mailing
list can help.

./configure still says that it can't find forms.h because I don't have
libforms or libxforms. I do notice in the screenfuls of messages that
whiz by during ./configure's run that it checks /usr/X11 for forms.h.
But there is no /usr/X11 on my system. There is, like I said, a
/usr/X11R6, which is where I deposited all of the xforms tarball.

If you need more information from me, just ask. I'll do my best to get
an answer to any question that might help me get xforms to work. I
really need to get LyX running before the next quarter begins at the
university in a week. Otherwise, I don't have anything but the clumsy
text editors vi and emacs to write my papers with. :)

Thanks in advance,
Donovan A Richie
